 HSC - English
English is without a doubt one of the most important subjects our students will ever study. In the HSC it is the one subject that all other subjects are standardised against. Due to its inclusion as a compulsory component of the HSC, it has become central to the success of any student.
English is the one subject that no matter which direction a student chooses to embark on after school, it will follow them for life. The key outcome of the English course is to gift students with the ability to express, communicate, create and feel.

Today we not only have books, but also television, radio, internet, magazines, journals, documentaries, movies etc. It becomes clear that navigation through the seas of texts, their meanings and their composition is not a task for the faint hearted. Our experienced teachers have captained many students through this storm to the clear and open seas of opportunity. Alpha Omega Education has harboured a vast fleet of resources that will carry our students over wave after wave of analysis, response and examination.
Alpha Omega English – One of A Kind
One of the main reasons students feel overwhelmed by HSC English is the vast plethora of texts, modules and responses that they often feel bombarded with. With this, students will quickly be disillusioned and percieve the mountain as too high to climb.
Alpha Omega students will not fall in this trap as we have developed a NETT to catch them. NETT or the Nexus of English Tools & Techniques has been developed to ensure students are effectively applying the fundamentals of identifying, understanding and responding to stimulus. By having a solid bedrock in these areas, students are able to explore more extensive and intellectual ideas and concepts.
How NETT works… Bridget who is struggling with writing essays effectively will spend her time perfecting the structure of the essay while the ideas they portray suffer. By using NETT, Alpha Omega English is able to refine Bridget’s essay structure efficiently, allowing her to focus more of her energy in composing a unique idea and interpretion of this idea that will allow her to stand out above many other students bring life to the body of her essay.

- Responding effectively to previously unseen texts
- Creative Writing
- Extended responses
- Clarity of Expression
- Understanding why texts are composed?
- Understanding how composers are able to capture the intended response of their responders (i.e. techniques)
English can be FUN…
Although the classics of English literature are read and adored by older audiences students often lost touch of the importance of English because of their lack of connection to these texts. Students are given a vibrant array of texts, from movies to internet websites to analyse and interpret. The new syllabus was aimed at reviving the vitality of English, but for some reason many students still view English in much the same light.
Alpha Omega is here to change that attitude. English really is about enjoying the experience – and learning from the impact it has. The best essays, the best speeches, the best stories are all written when students enjoy the subject matter, are motivated to pursue bold ideas and courageous enough to express themselves. Alpha Omega is aiming to revive English as the living wild beast that students will relish in riding and taming.
Our teachers seek to motivate and inspire our students to take a different view, to challenge the normal and strive to new heights. English is about understanding the human mind and spirit, and how it shapes and colours our world.
